3rd Scientific Event of the Nephrology Department of G.N.Th. G. Papanikolaou – March 2026

The Nefrontida Nephrology Center was pleased to be represented by Dr. Kyriakos Ioannou, Medical Director, and Ms. Ioanna Lakatamitou, Head Nurse & Quality Manager, at the 3rd Scientific Event and 1st Cycle of Educational Workshops: “Hemodialysis Central Venous Catheters: Myths and Scientific Evidence,” held on March 27–28, 2026, in Thessaloniki.

During the event, the topic “POCUS at the Needle Tip” was presented through real clinical cases from our Center, highlighting the importance of ultrasound as a practical everyday tool for enhancing safety and effectiveness in vascular access management. This is reflected in the remarkably low percentage of central venous catheters at our Center — only 4% compared to 30%–40% in other centers — as well as the long-term survival of vascular access, achieved through ultrasound-guided cannulation, early diagnosis of dysfunctions, and timely vascular surgical intervention.

We would like to warmly thank Dr. Gerasimos Bamichas for the honorable invitation and the excellent organization of the event.

Continuous education and the exchange of knowledge remain fundamental pillars in ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.
