Election and Appointment of Dr. Andreas Kousios to the Board of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) – August 2023

Dr. Andreas Kousios, one of the Nephrologists at our Center, received his initial nephrology training in Cyprus and subsequently at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London. In 2019, he began working as a Consultant Nephrologist at Hammersmith Hospital, one of the largest transplant centers in the United Kingdom and Europe. There, he gained extensive experience in kidney and pancreas transplantation, working within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. Dr. Kousios has a strong interest in living kidney donation, having undertaken clinical work in a specialized donor assessment clinic. He has co-organized and participated in several educational meetings focused on both donors and recipients, actively promoting living donation. He has presented clinical research at national and international conferences, particularly focusing on donor outcomes and other transplant-related areas. Dr. Kousios is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. He holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in Molecular Medicine and Genetics and is currently pursuing another Master’s degree (MSc) in Epidemiology.

 

In 2023, Dr. Kousios returned to his homeland, Cyprus, where he now works closely with Cypriot colleagues to apply his clinical expertise and promote kidney transplantation across the country.
